Booking and pricing questions

How do I book an appointment with Jake And Son Chimney Sweep?

Call (816) 239-8989 between 7am and 9pm on any day of the week. We book chimney, air duct and dryer vent appointments by phone. Tell us what you have, such as a fireplace, wood stove or furnace flue, and roughly how many vents, so we can set aside the right amount of time.

How does Jake And Son Chimney Sweep set its prices?

Prices depend on the job: the number of flues or vents, access, and what condition things are in. Every service has a starting price, listed on our Pricing page: chimney sweep starts at $199, air duct cleaning at $399 and dryer vent cleaning at $109. We give you the price for your home before any work begins. Fair pricing is one of the three values the company is run on.

Can I book a chimney sweep on a weekend or in the evening?

Yes. We work seven days a week and answer the phone until 9pm, so weekend and evening calls are welcome. Fall weekends fill first, so in September and October call a little ahead if you need a particular day.

When is the best time of year to have a chimney cleaned?

Late spring through summer. The burning season is over, schedules are more open, and any repairs can be finished well before fall. September and October are the busiest months for chimney sweeps. A spring inspection also catches any damage from the winter while there is time to fix it.

Can I have my chimney and my air ducts done on the same visit?

Often, yes. Chimney, air duct and dryer vent work can usually be combined. Tell us everything you want looked at when you call so enough time is set aside. Combining jobs also means one appointment and one trip for you to be home for.

Does Jake And Son Chimney Sweep follow NFPA 211?

Yes. We work to NFPA 211, the National Fire Protection Association's standard for chimneys, fireplaces, vents and solid fuel-burning appliances. We follow its yearly inspection guidance, its three inspection levels, and its requirements for liners, flue sizing and clearances when we repair a chimney.

Can I trust chimney cleaning advice from YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, Instagram or Pinterest?

Treat it with care. Videos and posts on YouTube, Reddit, Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest are useful for learning how a chimney works and what the parts are called, but nobody checks them for accuracy and they cannot see your chimney. For anything involving fire safety, compare the advice with NFPA 211 or ask a chimney sweep before you act on it.

Is Jake And Son Chimney Sweep bonded and insured?

Yes. Jake And Son Chimney Sweep is bonded and insured. The company is owned by Jake Baldwin, who has 32 years of experience, and its chimney work follows NFPA 211, the National Fire Protection Association's standard for chimneys, fireplaces and vents.

Do I need to be home during the appointment?

Someone needs to be there to let us in, since chimney, duct and dryer vent work is done inside the house as well as outside. It also means we can show you what we find. If you cannot be there for the whole visit, an adult who can make decisions about the work should be.
