What chimneys are like in this area
Housing here is older than many people expect. In Jackson County, the median home was built in 1970 and about half of all housing units were built before 1970, according to the Census Bureau’s 2024 American Community Survey. Older masonry chimneys with clay tile liners are common in that housing, and they need regular inspection as the liners and mortar age.
Our Jackson County data study goes through the numbers.
